Enabling rapid and effective decision making
The preparation of a Business Case should be a tool for rapid and effective decision making, but too often, unnecessary complexity becomes a barrier to implementing positive change. SCL has significant experience of supporting NHS organisations to develop and prepare Business Cases for a wide range of purposes, including capital and revenue investments, mergers and acquisitions, clinical services change and corporate shared services. Our services include the following:
- early stage support to design the Business Case programme of work, including the appropriate format for the Business Case
- identification of options, and development of financial and non-financial evaluation methodologies for assessing those options
- planning and facilitation of workshops with appropriate stakeholders to apply evaluation methodologies in order to identify a short list of options or a Preferred Option
- preparation of all relevant documents, including the Business Case, relevant appendices and supporting financial evaluation work books
SCL will support you to manage the programme in order to achieve the two key outcomes for a successful Business Case. Firstly, a rapid an practical evaluation of options which provides a logical assessment based on valid data whilst minimising unnecessary work. And secondly, effective internal and stakeholder engagement so that the Preferred Option is ‘owned’ by the teams who will be required to deliver it, and supported by everyone who will be affected by it.
